Unify Community Spirit Using Outdoor Holiday Lights

Communities Share Camaraderie When Holiday Decorating

Subdivisions across America can come together during the holidays by coordinating holiday decorating.  Nearly every home in one subdivision in the Western suburbs of Chicago shares in the holiday spirit by planning and coordinating their holiday decorating.  Some homes choose to accent their homes, some accent their landscapes, and some homes accent both in their holiday decorating.  Neighbors get together to decorate parkway trees to create a tunnel effect driving through the neighborhood.  Some streets are lined with monochromatic white tree trunks and green foliage and some neighbors choose to do the opposite color scheme.  Some homeowners like to be more colorful and choose multi-colored Christmas lights or other colored light combinations in the holiday decorating of their parkway trees.  The beauty not only lies in the holiday decorating but in neighbors coming together for a common purpose.  This spirit can be taken further.  After years of decorating and adding to their collections, some homeowners go all out in their holiday decorating.  There are homes whose entire garages, fronted with clear plexiglass, are devoted to holiday splendor.  One home has an elaborate train set displayed in their garage staged in a winter mountainous small town Christmas festival.  Many homeowners also create festive winter wonderlands throughout their outdoors.  In addition to hanging numerous outdoor Christmas lights, some homeowners pipe in speakers playing holiday music from local radio stations and provide candy canes to visitors adjacent to a donation basket.  The use of outdoor Christmas lights, speakers coordinated with twinkling lights, candy canes offered to visitors, interactive displays for children, and the smell of the great outdoors all come together as part of a multi-sensory holiday decorating experience that’s fun for everyone.

Neighbors Coordinate Yard Lighting To Unite In The Holiday Spirit

Ideas abound when planning yard lighting for a unified neighborhood holiday lights display.  Neighbors can consider stringing lights on shrubbery and trees, spotlighting wreaths, and lighting pathways to make yard lighting festive for all who pass by.  Elaborate displays can be placed inside glass boxes and staged on one’s lawn as part of a protective yard decoration.  The yard lighting of these displays is best when spotlights are used to up light the display.  Popular figurines like Pooh Bear and Tigger or Snoopy and Woodstock are shown in festive holiday poses and accented with yard lighting.  Yard lighting makes the holiday season more festive for all.

Homeowners Create Festive Displays With Window Holiday Lights

Another way a community can organize a unified holiday display is with the use of window holiday lights.  Festive window holiday lights can be displayed in various ways.  Special scenes like the nativity, Santa carrying presents, elves peeking over window sills looking to see if the children have been naughty or nice, or any other holiday related scene make an impressive use of window holiday lights.  Other ideas for window holiday lights can include outlining the top of the window frame with icicle lights, outlining the window frame with rope lighting, hanging special shapes like the Moravian Star or Starlight Spheres, or creating a special design of your own.  The creativity is endless when using window holiday lights and the best part is the display is contained inside free from weather or harm.  Encourage all of your neighbors to decorate with window holiday lights to create a luminescent luxury for all to see when driving through your neighborhood.

Decorate For the Holidays Using C9 String Lights

Large C9 Christmas Lights Create Bold Patches of Holiday ColorLarge C9 Christmas string lights create brilliant colorful displays that can be used indoors and outdoors.  String lights are a quick and easy way to illuminate the season and set a mood for festivity.  C9 light bulbs typically screw into string lights making it easy to replace a burnt out or broken bulb.  C9 Christmas string lights can be used indoors on Christmas trees, garland, wreaths, other displayed greenery, or even around table-top displays.  C9 Christmas string lights are a popular favorite for the outdoors with their vivid, bold splashes of color that can be seen a great distance away.  Use C9 string lights to create a fabulous holiday display for all to enjoy.

Be Environmentally Friendly With C9 LED Lighting Sets

Large C9 Christmas Lights Create Bold Patches of Holiday Color 1Being “green” is all the rage today.  It’s important to be responsible and consider reducing, reusing, and recycling.  C9 LED lighting sets can help you accomplish that.  Light-Emitting Diode, or LED, lighting is a popular choice in today’s light source market.  C9 LED lights have advantages over traditional string lighting sets.  They are more energy efficient, brightly colored, longer-lasting, cool to the touch, more shock resistant, and slowly fades out over time compared to abruptly burning out.  C9 LED lighting sets are initially more expensive but cost less over their longer life span.  C9 LED light bulbs can be used in a traditional C9 cord making it easy to swap out old C9 incandescent bulbs with the newer model.  Saving money and being kinder to the environment make C9 LED lighting a smart choice for your holiday illuminations.

Brighten the Season Using C9 Christmas Bulbs For Your Holiday Decorating

Large C9 Christmas Lights Create Bold Patches of Holiday Color 2Bright and colorful lighting can jazz up the season and make your holiday decorating sparkle with festive illumination. C9 Christmas bulbs can help create an even more grandeur holiday decorating with their 3” long brilliant mark of color splashed on top of greenery.  Due to their larger size, not as many C9 Christmas lights are needed to cover the same area as popular mini-lights.  C9 Christmas lights are perfect for your holiday decorating of large, overly dense and full trees.  Perfect for outdoor holiday decorating, C9 bulbs are also beautiful on large indoor Christmas trees.  Use C9 Christmas bulbs in your holiday decorating to share the Christmas cheer with family, friends, and neighbors.

Using Color to Enhance Your Christmas Light Decorations

Color Makes the Mood

Color has an amazing ability to evoke emotion and create mood.  Using color to create the feeling you want your home to emanate for Christmas is easier than you might imagine.

Using Color to enhance your christmas light decorationsTake elegance for example.  Shades of gold and ivory together can create one of the most elegant Christmas statements.  Simply mixing these two colors in your Christmas light decorations will give you the antique feel of sophisticated holidays of years gone by.  Remove all the bold color from your decorative scheme and the feeling is not only elegant, but soft, calm, quiet and sophisticated–perfect for chic, grown-up adult parties.

Need a livelier scheme?  Simply add some red to your gold and ivory decorations and suddenly your home takes on a bolder and more contemporary look.  Check out this Christmas tree and see how the color changes your reaction to the photo.

Using Color to enhance your christmas light decorations 1Should you need to entertain sophisticated clients, family and children all in one space, consider starting with a base color-scheme of gold and ivory.  You can entertain your professional friends with this calm, chic scheme. Then when it’s time for the family and kids to arrive, change the entire mood quickly by simply adding a few red flower picks to your garlands and red ornaments to your tree.  Voila! In no time you can change the entire mood of party with a few simple changes to your Christmas lights decorations.

Christmas Decorations to Shine This Holiday Season

Shimmering Ornament Selections from Kmart

Kmart is starting very early this season.  Now a part of the Sears family of stores, Kmart is already flooding the web with its pre-season holiday decorating ideas.  This year the ornament collection is chock full of things that shimmer and shine.  Bits of silver and black, and even a little bit of gold make up the most substantial percentage of the ornament collection.  Large finials are a relatively new item for the mass merchant.  These finials come in at a price that’s much higher than what we usually expect at Kmart.  It looks like Kmart is going after the upscale buyer who wants to save money over the usual Christmas boutique stores and still get an impressive, eye-popping ornament.  These finials are offered in a variety of sizes from 23″ to 42″ and unlike many specialty store ornaments are shatter-proof.  They may be shatter-proof, but they’re certainly not cheap.  Look for these finials to be priced from $39-$99.  Those with plenty to spend may opt to cover a large tree with them.  For the rest of us, we’ll opt for just one to hang from the ceiling or to place in a coveted position on an ornament stand.  Yet another option is to give one as a gift that your loved one can display for years to come.

The Buyer–In Control of What We Purchase for Holiday Decorating

Every wonder who is responsible for the selection of xmas lighting products and decorations you see in the store?  You may suspect its some unseen buyer somewhere, but what’s the real story behind the Christmas light decorations and products you see offered for sale?

holiday decorating who spot this year trendTruth be known these unseen buyers have a lot of say over what we eventually take home with us for our festive lighting and holiday decorating projects.  If they don’t put it in the stores, it’s unlikely most of us will have the option to purchase it. These buyers job is to preview all of the merchandise offered by vendors and select those Christmas lighting decorating ideas that are sure to sell. If they make too many errors on second guessing you, the customer, their bottom line is sure to suffer.  Then again if they’re perceptive and choose the season’s sure winners, they’re on their way to becoming retailing geniuses.

    Healthier Holiday Decorating

Holiday Decorating–Increasing the Level of Toxins in the Home?

healthier holiday decoratingEver wonder about the effects of holiday decorating on your health?  You may not have, but increasingly families are taking an inventory of what they use in their homes and how it affects their health.  All year long many of us use numerous toxic chemicals that adversely affect our  health.  These chemicals interfere with the normal function of our organs and may contribute to sluggish metabolism, body weight issues and the inner hormonal workings of our bodies and those of our children.  Offending products in the home include everything from harsh cleaning substances to personal hygiene products and even scented products like candles, air freshener and potpourri.

In December, our holiday decorating desires often find us adding even more scents, candles, potpourri to our already stale, confined indoor winter air.  You may not be aware of it, but a growing number of individuals are limiting their exposure to harmful household chemicals by opting to use high quality, therapeutic grade essential oils and essential oil-infused products in their homes.  One of the largest suppliers of these products is the Young Living Company.  Young Living offers a wide spectrum of products that rely on natural essential oils in place of harmful chemicals. Offering a tremendous selection of products that enable us to remove offending chemicals from our lives all year long, Young Living also offers seasonal specialties that are ideal for Christmas time.

Christmas Spirit–So Much More than Holiday Lighting

healthier holiday decorating 1Beautiful scents like Christmas Spirit, Frankincense, Myrrh and well as a variety of evergreen and pine essenses are available.  These products come in kits with diffusers to disperse them into the air and not a one contains any of the usual harmful chemicals found in most synthetically, scented oils.  Young Living’s scents can be added to candles and liquids, and even used on the body or ingested to boost health.  You’ll never find an objectionable ingredient in these fine products.

healthier holiday decorating 2In the most recent collection of Christmas products Young Living offered a unique ceramic Christmas ornament that was porous enough so that drops of beautifully essential oils could be added to it.  What a wonderful gift and one that’s health conscious as well as appropriate for holiday decorating.  To find wonderfully healthy products for your home this holiday season as well as unique gifts for your friends like real resin of Frankincense, check out Young Living at www.youngliving.org/kdshatinsky.  You’ll find just the gifts you’re looking for.

Something New With Mother Earth in Mind–LED Christmas Light

And while you’re selecting gifts and decorating your home, don’t neglect ways to save electricity by considering the use of LED string lights in place of the traditional incandescent form.  You’ll save money and take better care of the environment if you consider these for your Christmas bulbs. LED Christmas light is available in such a wide variety of forms.  You can choose from large c9 LED lights, c7 LED Christmas lights, LED Christmas mini lights and warm white LED Christmas lights.  Even battery operated LED Christmas lights are an option for locations where electrical outlets are just not an option.

So whatever you choose to do this holiday season, select carefully and keep the healthful needs of your home, family and friends in mind as well as the health and future of mother earth herself.
